Whether newly-weds or long-term
partners, there is nothing quite like a romantic trip away from home to
recharge the magic. Imagine beautiful scenery, luxurious and comfortable
accommodation along with all the facilities a couple could need, whether
in stunning Cape Town, the nearby lush and spectacular Cape Winelands or
the gorgeous Drakensberg Mountains.
One spectacular location
in Constantia, an upmarket suburb of Cape Town, offers everything a romantic
couple could desire. Along with beautiful accommodation, swimming
pools and a natural garden, the property offers a romantic
hot tub, offering a spectacular view. This romantic couple enjoyed
a stay at Constantia
Vista recently and toasted each other with the best Cape wines, while
gazing at the gorgeous view, all the way to False Bay.

Talking
of the best Cape wines, it’s time to head to the Cape Winelands, for a
lovely stay surrounded by mountainous scenery, the red and green of the
lush vineyards and the quaint traditional towns of the area. There
are many lovely places to stay in Stellenbosch, the second oldest European
settlement in South Africa after Cape Town. One, however, tends to
be heads above the rest.
Situated on a working vineyard
is the Spier Hotel.
Nestled in the Spier Estate, this luxurious stay among the grape vines
offers not only spectacular views, but also the best cuisine on offer in
the area, all quaffed down with an excellent glass of wine, produced right
there on the premises.
While enjoying a stay at
the hotel, guests can appreciate the boutique Camelot Spa, a self-proclaimed
“World of Wellness” offering great massages, relaxing therapies and a good
soak in a relaxing hot tub to end a day of exploring the beauty of the
area.

It’s time to head off to
the uKhahlamba Drakensberg Park in KwaZulu-Natal, with the most beautiful
mountainous scenery, lush green valleys and amazing views. Declared a World
Heritage Site back in 2000, the area offers much for the visitor including
a rich collection of rock art, among the last visible signs of the San
Peoples who used to make the Drakensberg Mountains their home. Experts
estimate there are 600 rock art sites in the area, which collectively offer
35,000 individual images.
First
opened in 1939, and nestled in all this splendour, is the Cathedral
Peak Hotel, offering not only excellent accommodation, but also a quaint
and romantic stone-and-thatch chapel (pictured above). The chapel
is perfect for exchanging or renewing those lifelong vows in a beautiful,
country-style wedding. The hotel offers luxurious honeymoon suites
for the newlyweds with a hot tub right there in the room. Of course,
you don't need to be newly-wed to enjoy the romantic ambience of this lovely
location.
The hotel offers an elegant
dining room offering breakfast and dinner. For those romantic couples
visiting with their children, there is a separate dining area for them,
offering toys, entertainment and friendship with other children staying
at the hotel. There are also babysitters available when needed.
There are many more wonderful
destinations to be found in South Africa, waiting for guests to explore
and enjoy the sheer romance. Make a plan to visit, relax and enjoy.
