Sand Forest Lodge is situated
on a nature reserve on the edge of an ancient sand forest and lies to the
west of False Bay Park - part of the Greater St Lucia Wetlands Park.
The Lodge is just 10 minutes
from the village of Hluhluwe and 20 minutes from the Hluhluwe Umfolozi
Game Reserve.
Accommodation comprises a number
of comfortable one and two bedroomed cottages, tastefully decorated in
Afro-colonial style. Try the self catering option or treat yourself
to scrumptious meals and genuine country hospitality. |

a vast diversity of natural and cultural resources that are all within
easy access of the Lodge.
Visualise an open vehicle
game drive among the Big Five in the oldest Park in Africa, walk the fossil

Let us arrange one of our
specialist tours to South Africa's oldest game reserve established in 1895
to protect the white rhino, which were on the brink of extinction. The
reserve is steeped in rich cultural and conservation history, with Zulu
battles being fought here, as well as this having been King Shaka's private
hunting grounds. It is home to the "Big Five" as well as having cheetah,
wild dog, hyena and other general game species.

R22 to Delmas, take the R50 to Leandra - to Bethal - Ermelo - Piet Retief.
From Piet Retief you travel
toward and through Pongola, bypass Mkuze, 52km later is the Hluhluwe off-ramp
Durban to Hluhluwe: ±

Take the N2 north and head
toward Stanger, bypass Stanger - Mtunzini - Richards Bay - Mtubatuba -
Bushlands, take the Hluhluwe off-ramp turn right toward the village:

Take the R33 to Greytown,
take R74 to Kranskop - Stanger - Mtunzini - Richards Bay - Mtubatuba -

From Hluhluwe
Off-ramp:
From the N2, take the Hluhluwe
off-ramp. You must follow the signs toward Sodwana Bay/False Bay Park.
Drive through the village and turn LEFT at the fourth circle (you should
see Allans Butchery in front of you before turning).
After ± 1.6km on this
road, turn RIGHT over the railway line into Sodwana Bay Road. After approximately
6km, turn RIGHT into False Bay Park Road (There are signs here). Sand Forest
Lodge is 900m from the turning - on the LEFT side of the road.
From Hlabisa to Sand Forest
Lodge:
From the Cengeni Gate at
Umfolozi travel north toward the Hluhluwe section of the park and exit
at Memorial gate. Turn right out of the gate and travel through the town
of Hluhluwe. At the fourth circle (you should see Allans Butchery in front
of you before turning). After ± 1.6km on this road, turn RIGHT over
the railway line into Sodwana Bay Road. After approximately 6km, turn RIGHT
into False Bay Park Road (There are signs here). Sand Forest Lodge is 900m
from the turning - on the LEFT side of the road.
